Now that I'm out of school, most of my making happens alone, at least when it comes to painting. I keep feeling like I'm not getting anywhere when in reality I’m moving forward in every which way possible. The making IS the motion. Speaking on work of this non-objective nature can sometimes feel like regurgitating the same growth-through-making spiel over and over. But I’m starting to realize that repetition is part of the growth. There’s never a time when I’m reflecting on my making that I don’t learn something new about myself. “New City, New Growth - II” is a nod to that repetition and growth I find through my making.
