I could pretend like I was mentally chewing on something conceptual when I started this piece but maybe admitting that IS the concept. I often feel like I’m trying to figure out what my work “means” after the fact and maybe that’s the work too. My making doesn’t always come from a place of vision or intent, sometimes it’s just a way of moving through life. But when the work begins there’s always something living underneath it, whether or not I stop long enough to define it is the real challenge. I ‘spose you could say I’m cheating a little on this one. Consider this a non statement artist statement.
